We did it again! On July 31st the Victorian Homelessness Network displayed 6,000 origami houses on the steps of Parliament House (representing 10% of the 60,000 social homes needed in Victoria), to highlight the urgent need for Governments to fix the housing crisis and end homelessness. Community members across the state were also challenged to fold 60,000 origami houses by the end of Homelessness Week...and they exceeded that goal! Congratulations to all those involved.

Homelessness in Victoria

At the last Census, 30,660 Victorians were without a home (including 6,800 children) – that’s 27 per cent of Australia’s total (112,494).

Homelessness Week 2024

Homelessness Week aims to raise awareness of the impact of homelessness, the solutions needed to end homelessness .

Homelessness Week 2024 will take place from Monday August 5th to Sunday August 11th

Houses at Parliament

This year, help us fold 60,000 origami houses and display them leading up to and during Homelessness Week. On 31st July we displayed 6,000 of the houses at Parliament House (representing 10% of the 60,000 social homes needed in Victoria), to highlight the urgent need for Governments to fix the housing crisis and end homelessness.
